What stretch tuning means
A piano is not tuned to pure math. The low strings and high strings each pull slightly against the tuning, so a technician stretches the tuning at both ends of the keyboard until the notes blend. Done well, the piano sounds fuller and more alive, especially older and player pianos. This is careful work by ear and instrument. It is part art and part science.
